西川春洞は、江戸日本橋に生まれた書家・書道教育者。中国の書を幅広く学び、独自の書風「春洞流」を示した。明治の漢字書壇にあって、多くのすぐれた門人を育てたことで知られる。その門下からは数多くの書家が輩出した。子は、戦後の書壇で活動した書家・西川寧。

His son was Nishikawa Yasushi, a calligrapher active in the postwar calligraphy world.

니시카와 슌도는 에도 니혼바시에서 태어난 서예가·서예 교육자이다. 중국 서예를 폭넓게 배워 독자적인 서풍 「슌도류」를 보여 주었다. 메이지의 한자 서단에서 뛰어난 제자를 많이 길러낸 것으로 알려져 있으며, 그 문하에서 수많은 서예가가 배출되었다. 아들은 전후 서단에서 활동한 서예가 니시카와 야스시이다.
