A Yōga (Western-style painting) painter born in Gunma Prefecture, Yuasa Ichiro studied under Kuroda Seiki and was active in the Hakuba-kai, a Western-painting society of the Meiji era. He stayed in Europe and worked on realistic, light-conscious depictions of interiors, figures, and landscapes. He is described as one of the painters active in the formative period of modern Japanese Western-style painting. Among his confirmed representative works are Dokusho (Reading) and Gashitsu nite (In the Studio), and his paintings are held at the Museum of Modern Art, Gunma.

유아사 이치로는 군마현에서 태어난 서양화가이다. 구로다 세이키에게 배워 메이지 시기의 서양화 단체인 하쿠바카이에서 활동하였다. 유럽에 머물며 실내와 인물, 풍경을 소재로 빛을 의식한 사실적인 표현에 힘썼다. 일본 근대 서양화의 초창기에 활동한 화가의 한 사람으로 소개된다. 대표작으로 《도쿠쇼》, 《가시쓰니테》가 확인되며, 작품은 군마현립근대미술관에 소장되어 있다.

Yuasa Ichiro war ein Maler im westlichen Stil (Yōga), geboren in der Präfektur Gunma. Er studierte bei Kuroda Seiki und war in der Hakuba-kai tätig, einer Vereinigung für westliche Malerei der Meiji-Zeit. Er hielt sich in Europa auf und arbeitete an realistischen, dem Licht zugewandten Darstellungen von Innenräumen, Figuren und Landschaften. Er wird als einer der Maler vorgestellt, die in der Gründungszeit der modernen westlichen Malerei Japans tätig waren. Zu seinen belegten Hauptwerken zählen „Lektüre“ und „Im Atelier“; seine Bilder befinden sich im Museum für moderne Kunst Gunma.
