鶴岡政男は、群馬県高崎に生まれた洋画家。戦時下に靉光や麻生三郎、松本竣介らと新人画会を結び、戦後は自由美術家協会で活動した。戦争や敗戦のなかでの人間の不安を、象徴的でどこか幻想的な画面に描いた。宙に浮かぶ大きな手を描いた代表作《重い手》は、戦後の不安な時代の感覚を表したものとして知られる。

A Western-style painter born in Takasaki, Gunma Prefecture. During the war he formed the Shinjin Gakai with Ai-Mitsu, Aso Saburo, Matsumoto Shunsuke, and others, and after the war was active in the Free Artists' Association. He painted the anxiety of human beings amid war and defeat in symbolic, somewhat fantastical pictures. His representative work The Heavy Hand, depicting a large hand floating in the air, is known as an expression of the feeling of the uneasy postwar age.

군마현 다카사키에서 태어난 서양화가이다. 전시에 아이미쓰, 아소 사부로, 마쓰모토 슌스케 등과 신진화회를 결성했고, 전후에는 자유미술가협회에서 활동했다. 전쟁과 패전 속 인간의 불안을 상징적이면서도 어딘가 환상적인 화면에 그렸다. 공중에 떠 있는 커다란 손을 그린 대표작 《무거운 손》은 전후 불안한 시대의 감각을 나타낸 작품으로 알려져 있다.

Peintre de style occidental né à Takasaki, dans la préfecture de Gunma. Pendant la guerre, il fonda le Shinjin Gakai avec Ai-Mitsu, Aso Saburo, Matsumoto Shunsuke et d'autres, et fut actif après la guerre au sein de l'Association des artistes libres. Il peignit l'angoisse de l'homme au milieu de la guerre et de la défaite dans des tableaux symboliques et quelque peu oniriques. Son œuvre représentative La main lourde, qui montre une grande main flottant dans l'air, est connue comme une expression du sentiment de l'âge inquiet de l'après-guerre.

Pintó la angustia del ser humano en medio de la guerra y la derrota en cuadros simbólicos y algo oníricos. Su obra representativa La mano pesada, que muestra una gran mano flotando en el aire, es conocida como expresión del sentimiento de la inquieta era de posguerra.

Maler im westlichen Stil (Yōga), geboren in Takasaki (Präfektur Gunma). Während des Krieges gründete er mit Ai-Mitsu, Aso Saburo, Matsumoto Shunsuke und anderen die Shinjin Gakai (Gesellschaft neuer Künstler), nach dem Krieg war er in der Vereinigung Freier Künstler (Jiyū Bijutsuka Kyōkai) tätig. Die Angst des Menschen inmitten von Krieg und Niederlage malte er in symbolischen, etwas phantastischen Bildern. Sein Hauptwerk „Die schwere Hand“, das eine große, in der Luft schwebende Hand zeigt, ist als Ausdruck des Lebensgefühls der unruhigen Nachkriegszeit bekannt.
