津田青楓は、京都に生まれた洋画家・図案家。はじめ図案の仕事から出発し、京都で多くの図案集を出した。のちフランスに学び、二科会の創立に参画して洋画家として活動した。夏目漱石と親しく、『それから』など漱石の本の装幀も手がけた。社会運動に関心を寄せたことで一時検挙され、釈放の条件として二科会を離れた。以後は日本画や書、図案へと向かった。小林多喜二の死の年に描いた《犠牲者》などで知られる。

A Yōga (Western-style) painter and pattern designer born in Kyoto. He began in design, publishing many pattern books in Kyoto, and later studied in France, taking part in the founding of the Nika Association and working as a Western-style painter. Close to the novelist Sōseki Natsume, he also designed the bindings of Sōseki's books, including Sorekara (And Then). His interest in social movements led to his temporary arrest, and as a condition of release he left the Nika Association. Thereafter he turned to Nihonga, calligraphy, and design. He is known for works such as The Victim, painted in the year of the death of Takiji Kobayashi.

쓰다 세이후는 교토에서 태어난 요가(서양화) 화가·도안가이다. 처음에는 도안 일에서 출발하여 교토에서 많은 도안집을 펴냈다. 이후 프랑스에서 배우고 니카회 창립에 참여하여 서양화가로 활동했다. 소설가 나쓰메 소세키와 가까워 『그 후』 등 소세키의 책 장정도 맡았다. 사회 운동에 관심을 둔 일로 한때 검거되었고, 석방 조건으로 니카회를 떠났다. 이후에는 일본화와 서예, 도안으로 향했다. 고바야시 다키지가 세상을 떠난 해에 그린 《희생자》 등으로 알려져 있다.

Peintre de style occidental (yōga) et créateur de motifs né à Kyoto. Il débuta dans le motif, publiant de nombreux recueils à Kyoto, puis étudia en France, participa à la fondation de la Nika Association et travailla comme peintre occidental. Proche du romancier Sōseki Natsume, il réalisa aussi les reliures de ses livres, dont Sorekara (Et puis). Son intérêt pour les mouvements sociaux lui valut une arrestation temporaire, et il quitta la Nika Association comme condition de sa libération. Il se tourna ensuite vers le nihonga, la calligraphie et le motif. On le connaît pour des œuvres telles que La Victime, peinte l'année de la mort de Takiji Kobayashi.

Comenzó en el diseño, publicando numerosos repertorios de motivos en Kioto, y más tarde estudió en Francia, participó en la fundación de la Nika Association y trabajó como pintor occidental. Cercano al novelista Sōseki Natsume, realizó también las encuadernaciones de sus libros, entre ellos Sorekara (Y entonces). Su interés por los movimientos sociales le valió un arresto temporal, y dejó la Nika Association como condición para su liberación. Después se orientó hacia el nihonga, la caligrafía y el diseño. Se le conoce por obras como La víctima, pintada el año de la muerte de Takiji Kobayashi.

Maler im westlichen Stil (Yōga) und Zuan-Designer, geboren in Kyoto. Er begann mit der Entwurfsarbeit (Zuan, Muster- und Ornamententwurf) und brachte in Kyoto viele Musterbücher heraus; später studierte er in Frankreich, beteiligte sich an der Gründung der Künstlervereinigung Nika (Nika-kai) und arbeitete als Maler im westlichen Stil. Eng mit dem Schriftsteller Sōseki Natsume verbunden, gestaltete er auch die Einbände von dessen Büchern, darunter „Und dann“ (Sorekara). Sein Interesse an sozialen Bewegungen führte zu seiner vorübergehenden Verhaftung, und als Bedingung für seine Freilassung verließ er die Nika-kai. Danach wandte er sich dem Nihonga, der Kalligrafie und dem Entwurf zu. Bekannt ist er für Werke wie „Das Opfer“, das er im Todesjahr von Takiji Kobayashi malte.
