Tomio Miki was an artist born in Tokyo. He is known for having spent his whole life making works that cast the form of the human ear in metals such as aluminum. Without ever explaining why the ear, he produced ears of various sizes and textures. Their uncanny, poetic form left a strong impression within postwar avant-garde art. He died young, in his forties, yet is regarded as one of the artists who built a world entirely their own.

Tomio Miki était un artiste né à Tokyo. Il est connu pour avoir consacré toute sa vie à des œuvres coulant la forme de l'oreille humaine dans des métaux tels que l'aluminium. Sans jamais expliquer pourquoi l'oreille, il produisit des oreilles de tailles et de textures variées. Leur forme étrange et poétique laissa une forte impression au sein de l'art d'avant-garde d'après-guerre.
