満谷国四郎は岡山県に生まれた洋画家。不同舎で学び、太平洋画会で活動した。人物画や風景画を手がけ、初期には明治洋画の写実を基礎とし、後年は明るく平明な色調と、東洋的な穏やかさを帯びた画風に向かったと紹介される。官展でも活動した。代表作に《軍人の妻》《緑蔭》が確認でき、岡山県立美術館などに作品が収蔵されている。

A Yōga (Western-style painting) painter born in Okayama Prefecture, Mitsutani Kunishiro studied at the Fudōsha and was active in the Taiheiyō Gakai (Pacific Painting Society). Working in figure and landscape painting, he is described as having grounded his early work in the realism of Meiji Western-style painting, and in later years as turning toward a style of bright, clear tones imbued with an East Asian serenity. He was also active in the government-sponsored exhibitions. Among his confirmed representative works are Gunjin no Tsuma (The Soldier's Wife) and Ryokuin (Shade of Green Leaves), and his paintings are held at institutions including the Okayama Prefectural Museum of Art.

미쓰타니 구니시로는 오카야마현에서 태어난 서양화가이다. 후도샤에서 배우고 다이헤이요가카이에서 활동하였다. 인물화와 풍경화를 그렸으며, 초기에는 메이지 서양화의 사실을 바탕으로 하였고 후년에는 밝고 평이한 색조와 동양적인 온화함을 띤 화풍으로 향했다고 소개된다. 관전에서도 활동하였다. 대표작으로 《군진노쓰마》, 《료쿠인》이 확인되며, 작품은 오카야마현립미술관 등에 소장되어 있다.

Peintre de style occidental (yōga) né dans la préfecture d'Okayama, Mitsutani Kunishiro étudia au Fudōsha et fut actif au Taiheiyō Gakai (Société de peinture du Pacifique). Travaillant la peinture de figure et de paysage, il est présenté comme ayant fondé ses débuts sur le réalisme de la peinture occidentale de l'ère Meiji, puis comme s'étant tourné, plus tard, vers un style aux tons clairs et limpides empreint d'une sérénité d'Asie orientale. Il participa aussi aux expositions officielles. Mitsutani Kunishiro war ein Maler im westlichen Stil (Yōga), geboren in der Präfektur Okayama. Er studierte am Fudōsha und war in der Taiheiyō Gakai (Pazifik-Malervereinigung) tätig. In der Figuren- und Landschaftsmalerei tätig, wird er so beschrieben, dass er sein Frühwerk auf den Realismus der westlichen Malerei der Meiji-Zeit gründete und sich in späteren Jahren einem Stil heller, klarer Töne zuwandte, der von einer ostasiatischen Ruhe durchdrungen war. Er war auch in den staatlichen Ausstellungen tätig. Zu seinen belegten Hauptwerken zählen „Die Frau des Soldaten“ und „Schatten grünen Laubs“; seine Bilder befinden sich unter anderem im Kunstmuseum der Präfektur Okayama.
