丸木位里は広島県に生まれた水墨画家である。日本画や水墨の表現を基礎に制作し、妻の丸木俊とともに《原爆の図》を共同制作した。二人は被爆後の広島を訪ね、見聞と証言をもとに連作を描いた。埼玉県東松山市の原爆の図丸木美術館は、この連作を中心に収蔵・展示している。位里の画面では、墨の濃淡と大きな人体表現が、出来事の重さを静かに伝える。

An ink painter born in Hiroshima Prefecture. Working from the means of Nihonga and ink painting, he created The Hiroshima Panels jointly with his wife, Maruki Toshi. The couple visited Hiroshima after the bombing and painted the series based on what they saw and on survivors' testimony. The Maruki Gallery for the Hiroshima Panels in Higashimatsuyama, Saitama Prefecture, holds and exhibits the series as its core. In Iri's compositions, the gradations of ink and the large rendering of human bodies quietly convey the weight of the event.

마루키 이리는 히로시마현에서 태어난 수묵화가이다. 일본화와 수묵의 표현을 바탕으로 제작했으며, 아내 마루키 도시와 함께 《원폭도》를 공동 제작했다. 두 사람은 피폭 후의 히로시마를 찾아가 보고 들은 것과 증언을 바탕으로 연작을 그렸다. 사이타마현 히가시마쓰야마시의 원폭도 마루키 미술관은 이 연작을 중심으로 소장·전시한다. 이리의 화면에서는 먹의 농담과 커다란 인체 표현이 사건의 무게를 조용히 전한다.

Peintre à l'encre né dans la préfecture de Hiroshima. Travaillant à partir des moyens du nihonga et de la peinture à l'encre, il réalisa Les Panneaux de Hiroshima conjointement avec son épouse, Maruki Toshi. Le couple se rendit à Hiroshima après le bombardement et peignit cette série d'après ce qu'il avait vu et les témoignages des survivants. Le musée Maruki pour les Panneaux de Hiroshima, à Higashimatsuyama (préfecture de Saitama), conserve et expose cette série comme pièce maîtresse. Dans les compositions d'Iri, les nuances de l'encre et la représentation à grande échelle des corps humains transmettent en silence le poids de l'événement.

La pareja visitó Hiroshima tras el bombardeo y pintó la serie a partir de lo que vieron y de los testimonios de los supervivientes. El Museo Maruki de los Paneles de Hiroshima, en Higashimatsuyama (prefectura de Saitama), conserva y expone la serie como su núcleo. Tuschmaler, geboren in der Präfektur Hiroshima. Ausgehend von den Mitteln der Nihonga- und der Tuschmalerei schuf er gemeinsam mit seiner Frau Maruki Toshi die Bildfolge „Die Hiroshima-Tafeln“ (Genbaku no zu). Das Paar suchte Hiroshima nach dem Atombombenabwurf auf und malte die Folge auf der Grundlage des Gesehenen und der Aussagen von Überlebenden. Die Maruki-Galerie für die Hiroshima-Tafeln in Higashimatsuyama in der Präfektur Saitama bewahrt und zeigt die Bildfolge als ihren Kernbestand. In den Kompositionen Iris vermitteln die Abstufungen der Tusche und die großformatige Wiedergabe der menschlichen Körper still das Gewicht des Geschehens.
