Koishi Kiyoshi was a photographer born in Osaka. Mastering the methods of New Photography (shinkō shashin), he created highly constructive and experimental works. By superimposing multiple images and manipulating the developing process, he sought to express an inner world in photography. Known for avant-garde photobooks such as Shoka Shinkei (Early Summer Nerves), he is regarded as one of the representative figures of prewar avant-garde photography. He was also active in the field of advertising photography.
