加藤唐九郎は、愛知県瀬戸に生まれた陶芸家。桃山時代のやきものを深く研究し、志野や織部といった美濃・瀬戸の古陶を、豪放で力強い茶陶として再現・制作した。古窯の発掘や陶磁史の研究でも知られる。一方、重要文化財に指定された壺をめぐる「永仁の壺事件」でも広く知られる。鼠志野の茶碗など、迫力ある作品を残した。
Kato Tokuro was a ceramic artist born in Seto, Aichi Prefecture. He studied the wares of the Momoyama period in depth and reproduced the old ceramics of Mino and Seto—such as Shino and Oribe—as bold and powerful tea ceramics. He is also known for his excavation of old kiln sites and his research into ceramic history. He is widely remembered, too, for the so-called Eninn Vase Affair, a controversy over a vessel that had been designated an Important Cultural Property. He left behind forceful works such as nezumi-shino (gray Shino) tea bowls.

가토 도쿠로는 아이치현 세토에서 태어난 도예가이다. 모모야마 시대의 도자기를 깊이 연구하여 시노, 오리베 등 미노·세토의 옛 도자기를 호방하고 힘찬 다도용 도자기로 재현·제작했다. 옛 가마터의 발굴과 도자사 연구로도 알려져 있다. 한편, 중요문화재로 지정된 항아리를 둘러싼 「에이닌 항아리 사건」으로도 널리 알려져 있다. 네즈미시노(회색 시노) 다완 등 박력 있는 작품을 남겼다.
Kato Tokuro était un céramiste né à Seto, dans la préfecture d'Aichi. Il étudia en profondeur les céramiques de l'époque Momoyama et reproduisit les anciennes poteries de Mino et de Seto — telles que le shino et l'oribe — sous la forme de céramiques de thé vigoureuses et puissantes. Il est également connu pour ses fouilles d'anciens sites de fours et ses recherches sur l'histoire de la céramique. Il reste par ailleurs largement associé à l'« affaire du vase Eninn », une controverse autour d'une pièce classée bien culturel important. Il laissa des œuvres puissantes telles que des bols à thé nezumi-shino (shino gris).
Kato Tokuro fue un ceramista nacido en Seto, prefectura de Aichi. Estudió a fondo las cerámicas del período Momoyama y reprodujo las antiguas cerámicas de Mino y Seto —como el shino y el oribe— en forma de cerámica de té vigorosa y poderosa. Se le conoce además por sus excavaciones de antiguos hornos y sus investigaciones sobre la historia de la cerámica. Se le asocia también ampliamente al llamado «caso del jarrón Eninn», una controversia en torno a una pieza declarada Bien Cultural Importante. Dejó obras enérgicas como cuencos de té nezumi-shino (shino gris).
Kato Tokuro war ein in Seto in der Präfektur Aichi geborener Keramiker. Er studierte die Keramik der Momoyama-Zeit eingehend und schuf die alte Keramik von Mino und Seto – etwa Shino und Oribe – als kühne und kraftvolle Teekeramik neu. Bekannt ist er auch für seine Ausgrabungen alter Brennofenstätten und seine Forschungen zur Keramikgeschichte. Vielfach erinnert wird er zudem an die sogenannte Eininn-Vasen-Affäre, eine Kontroverse um ein Gefäß, das als Wichtiges Kulturgut eingestuft worden war. Er hinterließ kraftvolle Werke wie Teeschalen aus nezumi-shino (graues Shino).
