金子鷗亭は、北海道に生まれた書家。比田井天来に学んだ。古い漢詩文だけでなく、現代の詩や文章を、漢字とかなを交えて書く「近代詩文書（きんだいしぶんしょ）」を提唱した。だれもが意味の分かる現代語を題材にすることで、書を身近なものにしようとした。創玄書道会を率い、戦後の書道界を広く導いた。1990年に文化勲章を受けた。

Born in Hokkaido, Kaneko Otei was a calligrapher. He studied under Hidai Tenrai. He championed modern poem-and-prose calligraphy, writing not only old Chinese verse but also contemporary poetry and prose, mixing kanji and kana. By taking as his subject the modern language that anyone could understand, he sought to bring calligraphy closer to everyday life. Leading the Sogen Calligraphy Society, he broadly guided the postwar calligraphy world. He received the Order of Culture in 1990.

가네코 오테이는 홋카이도에서 태어난 서예가로, 히다이 덴라이에게 배웠다. 옛 한시문뿐 아니라 현대의 시나 문장을 한자와 가나를 섞어 쓰는 근대 시문서를 제창하였다. 누구나 뜻을 아는 현대어를 소재로 삼아 서예를 친근한 것으로 만들고자 하였다. 소겐서도회를 이끌며 전후 서예계를 폭넓게 이끌었다. 1990년에 문화훈장을 받았다.

Né à Hokkaido, Kaneko Otei fut calligraphe. Il étudia auprès de Hidai Tenrai. Il promut la modern poem-and-prose calligraphy, écrivant non seulement d'anciens vers chinois mais aussi de la poésie et de la prose contemporaines, en mêlant kanji et kana. En prenant pour sujet la langue moderne que tous pouvaient comprendre, il chercha à rapprocher la calligraphie de la vie quotidienne. À la tête de la Société de calligraphie Sogen, il guida largement le monde de la calligraphie d'après-guerre. Il reçut l'ordre de la Culture en 1990.

Al tomar por tema la lengua moderna que cualquiera podía entender, buscó acercar la caligrafía a la vida cotidiana. Al frente de la Sociedad de Caligrafía Sogen, guió ampliamente el mundo de la caligrafía de posguerra. Recibió la Orden de la Cultura en 1990.

Kaneko Otei, geboren in Hokkaidō, war Kalligraf. Er studierte bei Hidai Tenrai. Er vertrat die moderne Dichtungs- und Prosakalligrafie, in der er nicht nur alte chinesische Verse, sondern auch zeitgenössische Dichtung und Prosa unter Mischung von Kanji und Kana schrieb. Indem er die moderne Sprache, die jeder verstehen konnte, zum Gegenstand nahm, suchte er die Kalligrafie dem Alltag näherzubringen. An der Spitze der Sogen-Kalligrafie-Gesellschaft leitete er die Kalligrafie-Welt der Nachkriegszeit umfassend. Er erhielt 1990 den Kulturorden.
