Inoue Chozaburo was a Yōga (Western-style) painter born in Kobe, Hyōgo Prefecture. He studied at the Tokyo Fine Arts School, was associated with the Shinjin Gakai (New Artists' Society) during World War II, and after the war worked with the Japan Artists' Association (Jiyū Bijutsuka Kyōkai). He is described as an artist who took the contradictions of society and his times as his subject, drawing on figural groups and religious imagery to create paintings imbued with a critical spirit. Inoue Chozaburo était un peintre de style occidental (yōga) né à Kobe, dans la préfecture de Hyōgo.
