原弘は、長野県飯田に生まれたグラフィックデザイナー。文字を効果的に構成するタイポグラフィ（文字による視覚構成）の分野で先駆的な仕事をした。戦前は対外グラフ誌『NIPPON』などに関わり、戦後は日本宣伝美術会の結成を支えて、日本のグラフィックデザインの基礎を築いた。展覧会の図録やポスター、書籍の装丁など、端正で知的なデザインで知られる。

A graphic designer born in Iida, Nagano Prefecture. He did pioneering work in the field of typography, the visual arrangement of letterforms. Before the war he was involved with the overseas graphic magazine NIPPON, and after the war he supported the founding of the Nissenbi (Japan Advertising Artists Club), laying the foundations of graphic design in Japan. He is known for the trim, intellectual design of his exhibition catalogues, posters, and book bindings.

Graphiste né à Iida, dans la préfecture de Nagano. Il accomplit un travail pionnier dans le domaine de la typographie, l'agencement visuel des caractères. Avant la guerre, il collabora à la revue graphique destinée à l'étranger NIPPON ; après la guerre, il soutint la création du Nissenbi (Japan Advertising Artists Club), posant les fondations du graphisme au Japon. Il est connu pour le design net et intellectuel de ses catalogues d'exposition, de ses affiches et de ses reliures de livres.
