江口草玄は、新潟県柏崎に生まれた前衛書家。森田子龍らとともに前衛書のグループ「墨人会」の創立に加わった。文字の整った形よりも、筆の線と墨がもつ動きや勢いを重んじた現代書を制作した。墨と筆の運動を造形としていかした作品で知られる。

Eguchi Sogen was an avant-garde calligrapher born in Kashiwazaki, Niigata Prefecture. Together with Morita Shiryu and others, he took part in founding the avant-garde calligraphy group Bokujinkai. Rather than the well-ordered shape of characters, he produced a contemporary calligraphy that prized the movement and momentum of the brush line and the ink. He is known for works that turned the motion of ink and brush into form.

에구치 소겐은 니가타현 가시와자키에서 태어난 전위 서예가이다. 모리타 시류 등과 함께 전위 서예 단체 ‘보쿠진카이’의 창립에 참여했다. 문자의 정돈된 형태보다 붓의 선과 먹이 지닌 움직임과 기세를 중시한 현대 서예를 제작했다. 먹과 붓의 운동을 조형으로 살린 작품으로 알려졌다.

Eguchi Sogen était un calligraphe d'avant-garde né à Kashiwazaki, dans la préfecture de Niigata. Statt der wohlgeordneten Gestalt der Zeichen schuf er eine zeitgenössische Kalligrafie, die der Bewegung und dem Schwung der Pinsellinie und der Tusche den Vorzug gab. Er ist bekannt für Werke, die die Bewegung von Tusche und Pinsel zur Form werden ließen.
