Arishima Ikuma war ein Maler im westlichen Stil (Yōga), geboren in Yokohama, mit Bindungen an Kagoshima. Er beteiligte sich an der Gründung der Nika-Vereinigung (Nika-kai) und war neben der Malerei auch als Schriftsteller tätig. Werke, die Porträts und vertraute Themen behandeln, sind verzeichnet. Zu seinen Werken zählen „Katze“ und „Bildnis der Mutter“.
